Sunday Game club August 17, 2003 report

I arrived with my gf a bit late at 4:30 rushing back from 光華[Guanghua] where I bought a computer that day seeing everyone was on the long table playing Phase 10. I gave my usual salutation and grab a seat on the smaller roundtable next to it and started ordering.

I took out the cards 成語[chengyu] and 唐詩[tangshi] poker cards I bought the day before at travel expo and start testing my memory on the [tangshi] I memorized that day. Hiroaki was about to take an early leave, but I made him stay a bit longer at my table playing Chinese Squabble. He hand me the money for the Japanese Squabble he ordered a week ago as I give him the newly laminated Jabble. Soon after Hiroaki left, David (aka southpaw) jumped down from the big table to replace hiroaki's hand. Not long after we played there was a big commotion like a the western cowboy bar, except every noise was in Chinese.

We later were told that 雙魚[shuangyu] was booked by a bunch of Chinese students for whatever function. They showed us their apology by ushering us to the new 雙魚[shuangyu] branch shop at another corner of 師大[shida road] and give us free drinks of whatever we didn't finish. Imani was umbrellaed like egyptian queen during the long and rather wet march.

Once arrived, we were seated on japanese tatami, and we started rolling out or cards. I had the best Chinese squabble game that day. Southpaw is such fast learner and beat us in no time with his miracolous construction of chinese characters. I was dead beat and hungry after two hours finishing my pot of [shuiguocha] and decided to take a leave later. Jenpenguin and my gf both were surprised by Southpaw's innate ability to create Chinese character from oblivion.

We took a lleave after receiving numerous call from Miltownkid who apparently couldn't make it that day due to a massive wife blockade and domestic imprimature error :)
