Appliquer un visa de Japon

Applying for Japan's visa

A lot of people gathered in front of Tongtai Bld across Nanjing E. Rd MRT Station. That's where the Kyoryu Kyoukai 「交流協会」is, the Japan official representative in Taipei where they handle my Visa application. I had been there a day before, but all my application papers where returned, because they do not believe about my purpose in going to Japan. They want a proof that my company-to-be in Japan has applied for my work visa there.

They finally faxed the receipt of visa application from Japan immigration office to me thru a fax in 7-11. I picked up the fax and put it inside the map along with other required papers and stand in line like other applicants. After 30 minutes, I was standing in front of the highly secured bulletproof glasswalled lockette talking to the girl officer inside. She checked all my papers and inquire on any items I failed to fill in the visa application form. When she's done with that, she told me to change my proposed length of stay from 60 days to 1 week because my invitation said so. She told me to come back the day after to pick up my visa and bring NT 900 as required fee. I walked out with mixed feelings, coz I think one week is too short. That duration written on the paper was supposed to be the duration of my initial flight to Japan instead of my length of stay. I went back to the lockette and inquired again. She told me not to worry. She had checked it with her supervisor, and I was given 90 days. Hurray!!! I finally got what I wanted. Persistence pays.

I came back to the office and wrote a short email to Kishimoto-san thanking him for all the effort he had invested. His reply was quick with a short Omedetto and well wishing to be meeting me soon in Japan. Vicky called at 3:00 confirming my ticket by Cathay Pacific CX 450 to Japan, destination airport Narita, ETD 13:05 Taipei time and ETA 17:20 Japan time.
